It’s Not Just You: A Conversation About Pandemic-Related Exhaustion and Burnout

Over the course of the pandemic, Ann Douglas has been hard at work on a brand-new book for and about women. Her research has given her the opportunity to have heart-to-heart conversations with well over 100 women: women who have been grappling with all kinds of different pandemic-related challenges. Ann will share some of what she learned from these conversations: how the pandemic has added to the heavy workload that women were already shouldering back in pre-pandemic times (and that has been even heavier for some women); and what this has meant in terms of the overall health and well-being of women. She’ll be encouraging you to reflect on your own experiences — both the challenges you’ve faced and what you’ve learned about yourself as you’ve lived through this strange and uncertain time.

Supporting the Professionals
Who Are Supporting the Parents
During the Pandemic and Beyond

These are challenging times for everyone—times that require us to think about new ways to communicate, work, and support one another. This webinar will provide an opportunity for organizations and individuals to reflect on how professionals might best support families during these extraordinary times:

  • How can we share resources and offer support in a way that reduces (as opposed to adds to) the stress that parents and children are experiencing?

  • What can we do to make a difference for a child or a family who is struggling?

  • How can we communicate our caring and support in a way that recognizes and builds upon the strengths of that family?

  • How might we maintain and connect the programs and services we create during this time with the work we will be doing post-pandemic?

  • How can we be ready to support parents in whatever comes next, given we aren’t exactly sure what that may be?

In this practical and inspiring presentation, Ann Douglas will connect the dots between the growing body of research about family support and engagement and the real-world needs of children and families during this difficult time. After all, if it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to support that child’s parent. Here’s how to be that village….

You can expect to

  • Learn strategies for helping parents navigate difficult parenting challenges that can directly impact mental health outcomes in parent and child.

  • Discover best practices for building trust with families who are struggling—and in a way that is validating and empowering.

Be sure to register. Seats are limited. A 40 minute live presentation by Ann Douglas will be followed by an interactive opportunity to share our own experiences, issues and advice during Q & A.

Parenting doesn’t happen in a bubble. As parents, we can’t help but be affected by what’s happening in the wider world. Is it any wonder then that so many of us are feeling anxious, guilty, and overwhelmed? In this thought-provoking presentation, Ann Douglas highlights the broader cultural forces that have made everything about parenting feel incredibly high stakes. Then she pivots to solutions, explaining how parents have the unique opportunity to serve as agents of change in their families and their communities. Her takeaway message is clear, powerful, and potentially life changing: you can tame the anxiety, embrace the joy, and thrive alongside your kids while building a better world.

You’ll learn….

• how to boost your enjoyment of parenting while maximizing the health and happiness of your entire family at the same time

• how to minimize stress, boost your mood, increase your energy level, and safeguard your physical and mental health — and how to encourage your kids to do the same

• how to zero in on the most effective parenting strategies (parenting strategies that work for parents and kids as opposed to parents or kids).
